Franchising Opportunities at The UPS Store
With over 40 years of franchising experience, The UPS Store has provided thousands of owners the opportunity to become their own boss. In our network of over 5,100 locations in the United States, you'll find franchise owners from all walks of life, everyone from young entrepreneurs to white-collar professionals to corporate leaders have chosen The UPS Store Franchise to advance their financial and personal success.
Each of our franchise owners has a story – some are experienced business owners, some are new to entrepreneurship. We have owners from small towns, large cities and everything in between. They’re retirees, veterans, minorities, women and, most importantly, they’re local business owners committed to providing exceptional customer service to small businesses and personal consumers in their communities.
One of our multi-location owners, Rick Hildebrandt, had his franchising story featured in Entrepreneur magazine. Hildebrandt left a lucrative but hectic career as president of a $10.5 billion company in the telecommunication industry to open his first The UPS Store in 2009. Over the next five years, he and his wife opened two more locations including one of The UPS Store's first 3-D print stores.
What appealed to Hildebrandt about franchise opportunities with The UPS Store was the flexibility to tailor his business to his experience and passions while being able to work within an established brand.
If you’re ready to start your own journey with The UPS Store, here’s a look at the franchising opportunities we offer.
Traditional Centers
Our traditional centers focus on bringing reliable shipping and delivery services to small businesses and consumers every day. The UPS Store also allows – and encourages – our owners to grow their business’ footprint in other communities with multi-unit ownership opportunities. In fact, more than half of The UPS Store franchisees own more than one center to bring world-class postal, shipping and delivery services to multiple communities.

Rural Centers
If you’re interested in setting up shop in a smaller city, The UPS Store has excellent franchising opportunities in rural locations. The UPS Store wants to make sure that small business owners and local consumers in small towns have access to the same resources that you can find in large cities. And, due to lower costs of living and doing business, start-up costs for The UPS Store's rural locations are often lower than traditional centers in larger metro areas.

Non-traditional Locations
Store in Store
The UPS Store launched the Store in Store model in the 1980s to allow franchise owners to establish centers located within other businesses like hotels, convention centers, grocery stores and self-storage facilities. In 2016, we expanded the model to allow owners to open smaller centers in businesses like pharmacies and hardware stores.
One of the outcomes of this more flexible model was a drastic reduction in the cost of opening a center – sometimes by as much as 83 percent. In 2017, Store in Store centers accounted for about 10 percent of new units.

College Campuses
Between the shipments of food from mom and dad, ordering books and standard online shopping, handling mail and packages at large college campuses can be as complex as managing the postal needs of a small city. Administrators at Arizona State University recognized that mailroom management was outside their capabilities and turned to The UPS Store for help.
The UPS Store set up two non-traditional centers on campus to replace the 14 existing delivery locations and implemented a state-of-the-art Parcel Management System to monitor and track packages during shipment.
