The UPS Store Franchise – Three Decades of Service
Serving the small business community for more than 30 years, The UPS Store, Inc. is the world’s largest franchisor of retail shipping, postal, printing and business service centers. The UPS Store comprises nearly 4,400 independently owned locations in the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada, providing convenient and value-added business services to the small-office/home-office (SOHO) market, corporate "road warriors," and consumers.
Early Years of The UPS Store
Throughout its evolution, The UPS Store continues to define and lead the business services category it created over 30 years ago. In 2001, UPS acquired Mail Boxes Etc., Inc, and two years later the two companies introduced The UPS Store brand. On April 7, 2003, approximately 3,000 Mail Boxes Etc. locations in the United States (at the time, nearly 90% of the domestic U.S. network) re-branded as The UPS Store.
The UPS Store franchise centers remain locally owned and operated, and continue to offer a variety of shipping, freight, postal, digital online printing, document and business services, with convenient locations and world-class service. In 2015, Entrepreneur® magazine’s annual "Franchise 500," rated The UPS Store #1 in the postal and business services category for the 25th consecutive year*. The magazine bases its annual ranking of franchise opportunities on factors such as financial strength, growth rate and size.
The UPS Store has been rated one of the Top Veteran-Friendly Franchises by U.S. Veteran’s Magazine, for the second year in a row. The 2015 evaluation recognizes employment opportunities for veterans, transitioning service members, disabled veterans, spouses and veteran business owners. Supporting all of them has been an honor.
