The UPS Store has teamed up with VetFran to offer veterans special discounts on franchise fees.
Transitioning back into civilian life after serving in the military for an extended period of time can be a very challenging experience for some. Getting used to a whole new routine and searching for opportunities to join the workforce can come as second nature after a long time spent in the service. Fortunately, The UPS Store offers plenty of franchise options for veterans who are looking to accomplish unprecedented personal and financial freedom. According to a recent study based on U.S. Census data, there are more than 66,000 veteran-owned franchise establishments in the U.S. which provide jobs for over 815,000 Americans.
Thanks to the International Franchise Association’s (IFA) Veterans Transition Franchise Initiative (VetFran) program, The UPS Store is able to offer qualifying veterans or spouses of active duty service members $10,000 off the franchise fee and 50 percent off the initial application fee for all new The UPS Store Franchise locations. VetFran helps hard-working military veterans experience a smooth transition from military life to civilian life. By providing veterans with a comprehensive training program and financing plan, they will be able to successfully operate their own franchise while being backed by a nationally recognized brand.
Through the IFA’s VetFran program, more than 2,100 veterans have become franchise business owners. The UPS Store has more than 280 store locations operated by veterans. Our goal is to allow veterans to live their American dream by having the opportunity to be their own boss.
Veteran Bob Tate, who has operated a UPS Store franchise for ten years, is thankful for the VetFran program and its ability to make his entrepreneurial dreams a reality.
“The advantages of owning a franchise versus being an independent business is the business model they provide. We have support at the local level and regional level with continued education, training and marketing help. It’s a much greater opportunity to succeed with that support in the background. I get up every day and enjoy going to work, helping people, talking with my customers and solving their problems.”
Veterans bring a variety of strong leadership skills back with them from their service. They can use the skills they acquire from the military to become successful franchise business owners. According to the IFA, “Veterans are trained and taught very specific skills to be used to carry out very specific tasks. Franchises have comprehensive training and support built into their opportunities. This means a veteran can enter into a completely new field, follow the franchisor’s proven business model, and receive the training, guidance, and support a new business owner needs to succeed.”
