Financing Options

At The UPS Store, we want to help all of our franchisees get started on the right track and also provide help along the way like tax break tips to help you save and become even more profitable. Site Selection

The UPS Store is continually expanding and has available markets across the country. We work closely with qualified prospective franchise owners to assist in finding the best location for their center based on their preferences, available markets and the company’s overall franchise system expansion goals and site selection criteria. A local representative from The UPS Store franchise development team will provide market research from our Real Estate Development Department to aid in site selection. Factors such as parking availability, foot traffic and competition help evaluate the business potential of a proposed location. Although we must approve the location of all new centers, the final decision rests with the owner.

Once the proper location has been determined and the site has been secured, we’ll help you plan and build out your store using a prototype floor plan, design criteria and other specifications for construction. We’ll also provide an equipment list, including the necessary computer system, and assist with ordering and installation.

The size of new stores vary, depending on the location type, market, building requirements, lease terms, etc. but most traditional locations average between 1,200 and 1,400 square feet. Store in store locations require 300-550 square feet of dedicated space within the host retail store.

For owners who prefer to skip the set-up when opening a franchise business, we also have a number of existing The UPS Store locations for sale that are ready for business under new ownership.

Comprehensive Training

Our goal is to have every franchisee comfortable and confident before opening day. That’s why in addition to helping new franchisees build out their center, The UPS Store offers a comprehensive training program. Our four-phase approach was awarded the PEAK Performance Award by The American Society for Training and Development. It consists of online training to provide new owners a solid foundation of store operations, product knowledge and business acumen. An interactive 9-day business and printing services workshop focuses on marketing, human resources, operations, financial management and print services training. In addition, new owners spend a total of two weeks working at a The UPS Store Certified Training Center for hands-on, in-store experience with operations, technical systems and print services.

Our support doesn’t end once a new franchise business opens its doors. If our franchisees are successful, we’re successful; and that makes the entire brand stronger. We provide ongoing support and guidance so even though each The UPS Store is locally owned and operated, our owners are never in business alone. In fact, our whole franchise network is rooted in a sense of family with collaboration and camaraderie among franchise owners.
